Romelu Lukaku looks like one step away from going back to Inter Milan. Christian FourI rate the striker must prove himself.
It is reported that Inter and Chelsea Sky Sport Italia have reached an agreement after a fairly tough negotiation process. Inter will borrow Lukaku for around 8 million euros plus bonuses.
Lukaku’s return is like an escape after his failure with Chelsea. Purchased for 113 million euros from Inter, Lukaku played for only 14 goals in all competitions and failed to lead Chelsea to win the Premier League, retain the Champions League, and lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals.
“Lukaku is a great player, he scored a lot of goals at Inter, but he also did very badly at Chelsea,” Vieri said as quoted by Football Italia.
“If he comes back, he will have to prove that he is not a player who was seen at Chelsea, but a player who did very well at Inter.”
Lukaku took a 35 per cent pay cut to ensure his move was successful. La Gazzetta dello Sport said Lukaku had tears in his eyes on a phone call with Sebastien Ledure when told the deal had been done.
Romelu Lukaku will fly to Milan on Friday (24/6) to undergo a medical so that his move can be finalized and join the pre-season session. In his first spell in the blue-black jersey, Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances.
