The Viennese lawyer Wolfgang Blaschitz, who was found dead in his car last Monday afternoon in the parking lot in front of the regional court in Wiener Neustadt, died of natural causes. The public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt confirmed corresponding media reports to the APA on Sunday.
Contrary to the original intention, the prosecution had an autopsy carried out, although there was no evidence of third-party fault. After the terrorist attack in Vienna, however, rumors circulated on the Internet that put the sudden, completely unexpected death of Blaschitz in a possible connection with the assassination attempt a few hours later. Blaschitz had represented Islamist perpetrators and sympathizers of the “Islamic State” (IS) in numerous terror trials before the criminal courts, such as Lorenz K., who was sentenced to nine years in prison.
The autopsy revealed what had been suspected in judicial circles since Monday. Blaschitz is likely to have died of a heart attack on the way to a court hearing.
