Vienna women’s survey enters the final

With the scientific study, the city wants to optimize future projects and initiatives. Until next Sunday, Viennese women from the age of 14 can go out on the streets or online take part in the study by means of a questionnaire in eight languages. The result should be presented later this year.

The fact is: The pandemic has changed the lives of many Viennese women, as a smaller study with more than 3,000 participants showed in the run-up to the survey. The psychological stress has increased, old role models have become entrenched – including unpaid work such as childcare and caring for relatives.

The two-part women’s survey is carried out by the institutes IFES and OGM on behalf of the Women’s Service Vienna. In the second part of the survey, the city now wants to find out what measures it can use to support Viennese women in the future.

Questions are asked about work and income, training and further education, equality and unpaid work, living together, mobility and offers specific to women. At least there should be a total of 5,000 Viennese women who are questioned on various focal points.

“We want to know exactly how – and what the Viennese want, what needs and wishes they have. (…) We don’t talk about women, we talk with them,” said Deputy Mayor and Women’s City Councilor Kathrin Gaal (SPÖ) in a broadcast on Sunday.
