Vienna Vikings Dominate Promoted Team in AFL Week 4 Matchup

The Vikings fully lived up to their role as favorites against the promoted team, dominating the “David vs. Goliath” duel from the start.

The hosts in the Ravelin football center were already leading in the middle of the first quarter 21:0. The same tone continued in the second half of the game. Feodor Chepyzhov booked after quarterback pass Nico Hroud his second touchdown. Before the break, the home side added seven points (35:0). In the second half, the Vikings switched back, but scored again. Elias Kohlprath made sure in the third quarter 41:0. Shortly before the end of the game there were also points for the Bears. Stefan Florian scored a touchdown, Stefan Gottfried used the extra point attempt. The Vikings hold three wins, the promoted team is at the bottom of the table.

Comments on the game:

AFC Vienna Vikings Head Coach Ivan Zivko: “Games where you are supposed to be the favorite are always difficult. We knew the Bears were going to fight four quarters. It’s a big stage for them. Your touchdown at the end is therefore perfectly fine. We were in a good mood, even after the break when Nico (QB Hrouda, Anm.) injured. We were even able to bring in the third quarterback later. Of course you can see that the young players haven’t got used to the game yet, but that’s part of the game. It’s good for the club, but also for the fans to see other players.”

Styrian Bears Head Coach Martin Kocian: “Obviously I can’t be satisfied with the result. But we played against very good opponents and we can learn a lot from the best teams in Austria. We never gave up what was important to us. Hopefully we can take something from this game for the coming games. Of course, there is still a lot of work ahead of us.”
