The Vienna Stock Exchange went into the weekend after a volatile trading day with weaker prices. The ATX lost 0.77 percent to 2,232.40 points after changing sign several times. The broader ATX Prime closed with a minus of 0.69 percent to 1,138.74 units. Some European exchanges had also turned red after the weak opening of the US stock exchanges.
Investors continue to fluctuate between hope and worry – as you could clearly see on today’s trading day. With the negative opening of Wall Street, however, pessimism prevailed. For one, economic data on US consumption turned out to be good, but remained below analysts’ expectations. On the other hand, an increase in new corona infections in the USA and the associated measures led to a deterioration in mood.
