Rumor mill and a denial: At the Vienna Regional Court for Criminal Matters, rumors made the rounds on Wednesday that the corona virus had spread in the course of a negotiation.
Court spokeswoman Christina Salzborn rejected this as incorrect. There are two cases in the Gray House, but no cluster, she assured in an interview with the APA.

Judge and legal intern in the regional court corona-positive
It is certain that a judge at the regional court tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the past week. Before the test result was available, he had informed the presidium of his own accord and stayed at home because he was feeling the first symptoms.

The legal intern assigned to him, who had acted as secretary at a lengthy negotiation a few days earlier, was immediately summoned to the home office and trained again for a test. It turned out that she too had been infected after a previous gargle test had not yet provided any evidence of infection with the virus.

Negotiation in strict compliance with the safety rules
As Salzborn stated in response to an APA request, there is no evidence that the judge and his legal intern infected each other. It is currently not known where the two were infected. The negotiation, in which both were involved, took place in compliance with the intended safety precautions – wearing an FFP2 mask, observing the distance regulation, ventilation breaks – emphasized Salzborn.

All persons who were present at the said hearing were notified as possible contact persons after the two infections became known. According to Salzborn, no other infections were found.

Corona tests at the regional court well received
Corona tests have been offered at the regional court for a long time. Antigen tests are carried out on Tuesdays and the more informative PCR tests on Thursdays. “The tests are well received,” reported Salzborn.
