The alarmed police officers were able to investigate the apartment on Puchsbaumgasse from which the shots came and requested support from the WEGA special unit. This opened the affected apartment door and was able to provisionally arrest two men, a 17-year-old Austrian citizen and a 17-year-old Bosnian citizen.

The airgun and the associated ammunition were found in the apartment and temporarily seized. Since there is already a ban on weapons against the two suspects, they were also reported under the Weapons Act on suspicion of bodily harm and intentional endangerment of the community. The duo did not initially provide any information about the facts and is being held by the police.
