Vienna / Music. With Zajazza, a “sample” trip to New York and a treasure hunt in urban culture

It was in 2017 at Jazz à Vienne that they met and their project “Sampling Is Beautiful” was born. The Viennese Clément Sergé, alias Zajazza, DJ and producer, and the Lyonnais Paul Bourdrel, videographer-photographer, had the idea of a video and scenic concept around the “sample”, in other words sound sampling.

“It is a pretext, confides the musician, to open the glance more broadly, on the music and the culture of a city or a concert hall. In the first episode, “Sampling Is Beautiful”, we take you to New York on a musical quest made up of meetings, interviews and record research between Brooklyn, Harlem and lower Manhattan. A week crisscrossing the city to the rhythm of jazz and hip-hop with one idea in mind: to sample the “Big Apple” (New York, Editor’s note)! “

And to continue: “During this real treasure hunt in the streets of New York, we find ourselves in the dust of the largest record store in Brooklyn, we record rappers, we discover the universe and the history of graffiti of 5point and navigate the city’s hip-hop evenings… ”
