Vienna. Missing 12-year-old schoolgirl found 500 km from home

A 12-year-old schoolgirl, whose disappearance was reported on September 17 in Montréjeau, Haute-Garonne, was found Thursday in Poitiers, 500 km from where she lived with her grandmother.

“Thanks to the work of the gendarmerie, which put a lot of resources into action, she was found this (Thursday) morning in Poitiers,” said the Saint-Gaudens prosecutor Christophe Amunzateguy.

The schoolgirl was taken care of in Poitiers by the child protection services.

Did she run away or was she kidnapped? The prosecutor did not want to reveal it, indicating that people had been taken into custody. “According to the first elements, there is no sign of ill-treatment,” said Christophe Amunzateguy.

On September 17, the young girl had gone to college in Montréjeau as normal, but she had not returned to her grandmother, who has custody of her and with whom she has resided since arriving from Guadeloupe this summer. . Five days after the disappearance, the prosecutor of Saint-Gaudens had opened a judicial investigation for worrying disappearance.

A call for witnesses had been launched on the social networks of the gendarmerie. The young girl had just returned to college in Montréjeau, a town of 3,000 inhabitants located between Tarbes and Toulouse.
