Vienna is planning a registration platform for vaccinations

The second round of the coronavirus vaccination campaign will continue tomorrow in Vienna. A total of 15 senior or care facilities as well as Covid stations in hospitals will be supplied by January 12th. A total of around 5,000 cans are available for this.

Around 2,000 servings of the vaccine have already been administered in the federal capital. As in other federal states, the first people were vaccinated on December 27th. From January 18, there will be a separate reservation platform in Vienna for people who want to be vaccinated. As soon as the further vaccination plan has been determined, the persons concerned will receive suggested dates.

63,000 vaccine doses per week

Austria currently receives 63,000 vaccine doses per calendar week to protect against infection with the coronavirus. By the end of this week, a total of around 126,000 doses of vaccine will have arrived. To date, 8,360 cans have been delivered. The Ministry of Health announced these figures at noon on Tuesday at the APA request.

Most of the 8,360 doses are believed to have already been injected. “You have to be vaccinated immediately after the allocation,” said a spokesman for the Ministry of Health. The vaccination doses delivered were accordingly divided between the 17 logistics centers of the pharmaceutical wholesaling and then delivered to the intended facilities with prioritized vaccination needs – nursing homes and Covid stations in hospitals.

Vienna received 2,800 of the 8,360 cans. 2,690 are in Lower Austria, 890 in Salzburg, 525 in Vorarlberg and 485 in Tyrol. Upper Austria got 460, Carinthia 300, Burgenland 170 and Styria 40.

Industry sees itself “well on schedule”

The Association of Austrian Vaccine Manufacturers (ÖVIH) and the Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (Pharmig) see themselves well on schedule with regard to delivery. The pharmaceutical industry is fulfilling its responsibility and obligation to timely production and delivery, according to a press release.

“Sufficient vaccine doses are available for Austria. For the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine alone, 5.5 million doses are planned for Austria from the scope agreed by the EU Commission. 3.5 million over the basic quota and two million doses over an already agreed optional quota ”, stated Pharmig General Secretary Alexander Herzog.

The IKG president received an excess vaccination

The President of the Vienna Jewish Community (IKG), Oskar Deutsch, was vaccinated with a leftover vaccine that was intended for the Maimonides Center, the senior citizens’ home of the IKG. As reported by the daily “Kurier” (Wednesday edition), Deutsch apologized for this. It was a mistake that he had himself vaccinated, said the IKG President.

The CoV vaccine had been made available to the Maimonides Center by the city and, according to the IKG, 343 people – all residents and employees – had been injected. When 30 doses of vaccine were left over, the medical director of the center, Dan Seidler, told the “courier” to search for people outside of the house within a few hours in order to avoid rejecting the vaccine.

In the rush, primarily people who were close to the center or the staff were informed. Among them was IKG President German. In addition, two under 30-year-olds were vaccinated. “That shouldn’t have happened,” Deutsch told the “Kurier”.
