In a comparison of 75 cities around the world, Vienna ranks 13th in the honesty index
Vienna is more honest than Berlin or Rome. This was the result of a study by the German vehicle digitization company Twinner. They wanted to know what reputation car dealers enjoy around the world. To implement it, it first had to be clarified how to measure and evaluate honesty in a city as a whole.
Categories. This is how the study came about, which compared 75 cities around the world. The honesty index is made up of six categories: car dealer ratings, honesty of citizens, transparency in administration, transparency in business, transparency in society and perception of theft.
Vienna only ranks 38th when it comes to honesty of its citizens
Experiment. Vienna landed in 13th place overall, but if you look at the different categories individually, the ranking varies. Vienna only ranks 38th when it comes to the honesty of its citizens. The honesty was tested here with an experiment in which researchers laid out 17,000 wallets in cities around the world to see how many of them would be returned. In Vienna one or the other purse was probably put in here. In terms of theft perception, which measured the level of concern among citizens about various types of theft, Vienna came fourth.
Transparency. Vienna is also doing well when it comes to transparency in the economy, but worse when it comes to transparency in administration and society.
