With Sebastian Wraneschitz, Vienna’s only 18-year-old self-made goalie is also part of this select group. The student of the Vienna Capitals Hockey Academy played his way into the notebooks of the NHL scouts as Austria’s goalkeeper at the U20 World Cup in Edmonton / Canada. The NHL Entry Draft, in which the clubs of the National Hockey League secure the rights to over 200 talented players, is scheduled for June 23 and 24.

Sebastian Wraneschitz is practically the “role model” of the Vienna Capitals Hockey Academy. The 18-year-old Viennese not only went through all the youth teams of the Vienna Capitals organization, but also benefits from the model “School & Sport” as a student of the club’s own Hockey Academy. Age-appropriate, professional training and a school program tailored to the training and competition planning ensure excellent school and sporting development. Lessons take place in different school types in the five partner schools. On the ice, a proven team of coaches supports up-and-coming CAP talents such as Sebastian Wraneschitz on their way. “In this phase the foundation for a later, successful career is laid. We offer the players a perfect introduction to competitive sport, but we also attach great importance to school education. With the Vienna Capitals Hockey Academy model, we are creating the ideal connection, ”says Academy Director Peter Schweda.
Eight seasonal missions, one shutout, 90.7 saving percentage
