82 million euros budget, three kilometers of route, 15 cabins, three stations served in 10 minutes, 20 km / h average … Teleo, the future urban cable car of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) The counters are freaking out and for good reason, it is one of the most spectacular projects of recent years.
Commissioned in 2022
Located to the south of the Pink City, Téléo will serve three stations:’Oncopole (10,000 jobs), CHU de Rangueil (200,000 consultations per year) andPaul Sabatier University (30,000 students).
In this area, the identified travel needs are estimated at 8,000 travelers per day. Several options were considered, and given the topography of the place, the cable car has naturally established itself as the most relevant means of transport. The capacity of the cable car will be 1,500 passengers per hour and per direction at a rush hour frequency close to that of the metro, ie one cabin every 1 minute 30 seconds. The facility has a total of 15 row cabins with a capacity of 34 seats, all of which are 100% accessible for people with reduced mobility. “
Started in 2019, the site of the longest cable car in France was due to end at the end of this year with commissioning expected in December but ultimately it will not be operational before the first half of 2022. The announcement has been made Wednesday, September 29, 2021 by the president of Tisséo, Jean-Michel Lattes, during a new progress report on the project.
Take a quick look at the worksites of future Téléo stations
Until the first users can board in the fully glazed cabins – for a breathtaking view of the city from over 50 meters high – the Tisséo public transport network has published three videos in timelapse, in other words in time lapse.
Demolitions, deviations from underground networks, earthworks, construction of stations…: the images are impressive.

A one-month dry run phase
Next step for Téléo: the dry run phase, that is to say the putting into circulation of all the empty cabins. The goal ? Check the entire system in real conditions, make the final adjustments and, for the personnel, check that the procedures related to this new mode of transport are properly understood and applied.
