[VIDÉOS] TD Musiparc Tour: nearly 30,000 fans in their cars!

The idea of putting on a tour of 100 shows in five cities in Quebec was bold in the unprecedented context of a pandemic. But nearly 30,000 people had the curiosity to attend a “live” show in their car thanks to the tour. TD musiparc, which ended on Sunday.

Of the 103 shows scheduled over a period of one month in Bromont, Mercier, Gatineau, Quebec and Mirabel, 97 performances took place.

“It’s exceptional,” commented the principal director of Musicor Spectacles, Sébastien G. Côté. We thought we had to cancel more events because in the summer you can’t predict the weather. We could have had a week’s fleet. But that was not the case. ”

At Musicor Spectacles and Gestev, producers of the tour, it is estimated that around 30,000 people attended the shows, or between two and three people per car, according to their observations. With the possibility of accommodating 350 cars per site, the objectives were however “more ambitious”, maintains Sébastien G. Côté.

“We realized that although she greatly appreciated what we offered her, a certain clientele was perhaps less ready to go out and that she was perhaps a little afraid of COVID”, a- he explained.

A younger clientele, usually those of festivals, answered the call “in large quantities,” notes the director. We have seen it in the case of Roxane Bruneau, Marc Dupré, Matt Lang, 2 Frères and Bleu Jeans Bleu. ”

An uncertain autumn

That said, the objective was not profitability, explains Sébastien G. Côté, but rather to offer something to the public in the absence of festivals, and above all, to employ 325 artisans in the entertainment industry who had virtually nothing on the schedule this summer.

If the formula “works well”, the extension of the programming was not considered.

“We could be called upon to reuse it later this fall, next year, that is not excluded,” explains Sébastien G. Côté. But we don’t have the project to do it. Obviously, our wish is to be able, as quickly as possible, to present shows in a slightly more normal context, with reduced or full gauges, but we are well aware that this is not immediately within our reach. . “

Sébastien G. Côté considers “unlikely” a resumption of normal activities in the fall. “There is no certainty right now,” he said.
