Mexico City /
A video shared on social networks in which the movement of the semi-transparent eyelid of a pigeon’s eye is shown has gone viral. And it is that although it is not usual that in daily life people wonder what the eyes of pigeons are like, the truth is that after the clip was made public, curiosity has been generated among Internet users.
Its author, Jamie Wu, from New York, United States, recorded her two-year-old Donut pigeon up close to capture the movement of her amazing semi-transparent eyelids and decided to share it on social networks arousing curiosity and astonishment on the part of some users.
“Donut is a male ring-necked pigeon who has chosen me as a mate, so he is calm and meek with me,” Jamie told Caters.
The eyes of pigeons are the place where some of their most striking peculiarities hide. Their eyesight approach 340 degrees, and they also have a divided focus: the upper half sees at great distances, and the lower half, close-up details.
Like many other birds, their eyelids, also known as the nictitating membrane, are semi-transparent and serve to prevent dirt or other particles from damaging the eyes while they fly.
