VIDEO: Woman who ran over protesters arrested in New York

NEW YORK, USA.- A woman who rammed her car into protesters in New York City on Friday, injuring six of them, was arrested and charged with recklessly endangering others, police said.

Kathleen Casillo, 52, was released after receiving a notice to appear in court at a later date, police said. In the files published online, the name of a lawyer who could make statements on behalf of the accused did not appear.

Six people were taken by ambulances to hospitals with injuries that authorities said did not endanger their lives.

Casillo, of Rockaway Park, Queens, remained at the scene. She was arrested and questioned, police added.

Another woman, whom police described as a protester, was arrested for obstructing the work of an ambulance staff at the scene, police said.

Nicolle Besuden, 32, from Manhattan, was charged with disturbing public order and obstructing government management.

Besuden was also released, but will have to appear in court at a later date.

The woman said that the accusations against her were “false and incredibly damaging” and asked that the version of the incident of an injured protester whom she was helping be addressed, who said that she was taking care of and comforting him before the arrival of emergency medical personnel. and that his arrest was misplaced.

The protest started in Times Square and it was intended to draw attention to a hunger strike undertaken by detained migrants in a prison in New Jersey.
