What Nicușor Dan proposes for the operation of the metropolitan train:
- we will use in the first stage the railway infrastructure that exists around the Capital,
- with the help of the Ministry of Transport we intend to make the necessary upgrades and connect to other means of public transport.
- subsequently, also in collaboration with the central authorities, we want to invest in the acquisition of trains, in the construction of new segments and railway stations, in order to extend the routes on which the metropolitan train will operate.
Thursday the tariff integration of the train from Gara de Nord to Otopeni Airport has become operational with surface and underground public transport in Bucharest.
On Thursday, Bucharest residents and commuters from Ilfov can buy the first integrated metropolitan tickets for surface transport, by subway and by rail transport on the route Gara de Nord – Henri Coandă Airport, in the Bucharest-Ilfov region. The project has entered into force and is intended to be a pilot one – it comes with a series of tickets and season tickets that allow any transhipment on any surface transport, metro and railway vehicle on the route Gara de Nord (Bucharest North station) – Henri Coanda Airport .
No major infrastructure projects are underway
