Every time he goes to the gym, Bothell doctor Evan Strahl, who likes to lift weights, is accompanied by his faithful dog.
Wherever he goes, Dooma, his dog friend, always follows him. When he grabs the dumbbells to do squats, she’s right there next to him. And when he starts squatting, so does she.
Dooma, who is a service dog, won the hearts of people around the world after a viral video caught him doing squats in the gym, right next to his owner in Washington state.
Dooma, a three and a half year old Belgian Malinois, is Dr. Strahl’s service dog and competes against other professionally trained sports dogs. She was sent to him at the age of 15 weeks from Holland, where she was trained hard to fulfill her role as a service dog.

When Dooma was just a puppy, Dr. Evan Strahl, 35, a professional wrestler working to improve her health, began training her to squat to strengthen her leg muscles. It took her almost a year to master the technique perfectly. After watching Dooma repeat these squats hundreds of times, it was no surprise to Dr. Strahl to notice that she was beginning to mimic her actions in the gym, performing squats and wagging her tail happily.
“It didn’t surprise me at all because it was a very normal thing for Dooma. Dooma always does unusual things,” he said The Epoch Times.
However, the other participants in the gym were surprised to see such a novel sight – a dog performing squats in perfect synchronization with its master.

“They were very surprised,” said Dr. Strahl. “I thought it was a normal thing for someone’s dog to do. So I wasn’t really surprised when I saw it, but other people seemed shocked by it.”
Dr. Strahl videotaped her squatting, just for laughs, and posted the footage online. He had no idea it would go viral.
The reactions to Dooma’s actions were overwhelmingly positive. “Everybody really liked it,” said Dr. Strahl. “A lot of people made funny comments about it.”
“Dooma squats better than anyone in my room,” one viewer quipped. “Good job Doom!”
Dooma’s life began in the Netherlands, where she was raised by Hans Pegge, an expert dedicated to breeding man’s best friends to be service dogs and K9 officers, trained to track down criminals. capture
“Hans Pegge saved many people’s lives and made a great contribution to the world of dogs,” said Dr. Strahl, referring to the man who started training Dooma when he was a puppy.
Dooma is very talented. “He competes in various canine sports and has won every event he has entered so far,” said Dr Strahl.

Her range of tricks is not limited to squats; she has a variety of skills. “He can walk on his hind legs. He can jump over a truck very easily. It can do many different types of recognition activities,” said Dr. Strahl.
And her personality? “She’s very, very, super hyper, super sweet,” Dr. Strahl said. “And she can be quite aggressive too.”
But working with police dogs is Dooma’s strong point.
“She combines the best of both worlds,” he said, proudly recalling how Dooma beat 40 male police dogs in competitions. “She is a great example of “girl power, “but she’s also sweet and loving.”
The future is full of potential for Dooma, now pregnant. She continues to squirm with her friend Dr. Strahl in the gym and doesn’t look like she’s going to stop anytime soon.
