On the night of July 24 to 25, a meteor crossed the sky over Oslo (Norway). It is not yet known whether it hit Earth.
On social networks, the images of a meteor that set the sky in Oslo ablaze are numerous. On the night of July 24 to 25, the passage of a large ball of fire intrigued the inhabitants. This is an “unusually large” meteor, reports The Guardian.
The meteor traveled 15 to 20 km per second and lit the night sky for five to six seconds. Some eyewitnesses also said they felt a stronger wind due to the meteor causing a pressure wave, said Morten Bilet of the Norwegian Meteor Network.

“Great excitement”
“What we saw last night was a large boulder probably traveling between Mars and Jupiter, which is our asteroid belt. And when that hisses, it creates a rumbling, light and great excitement among us, experts, and perhaps some fear among others, ”explained the specialist.
Did the meteor hit Earth? The first data collected estimates that the meteor could have fallen in a large wooded area, called Finnemarka, 60 km west of the capital. In the afternoon of Sunday, July 25, no debris had been found, and given the “complex” location, the search for possible meteorites could take “about 10 years”, according to Morten Bilet.
