“The adventure of the living”, a Corsican version, designed to promote the discovery of agricultural education, began on Friday in Ajaccio. It will continue in Bastia, before ending in Corte on 10 November. The dialogue with the largest number is tied through animations and conferences
L’agricultural education opens up a wide range of opportunities and offers a solid stepping stone to employment. And, until November 18, it will find its letters of nobility, in turn Ajaccio Place Miot, until November 10; To Bastia from 12 to 16 November Place Saint-Nicolas and finally in court, November 17 and 18.

The method consists of creating the event to the rhythm of the bright orange truck of “L’Aventure du vivant” associated with an ephemeral village.
And, it is on Friday afternoon in Ajaccio that the kick-off of the operation organized by the Regional Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Forestry (Draaf) and the two educational institutions of Sartène and Borgo, as well as with the prefecture of Corsica and various partners *.
“This event is a first. Our goal is to introduce young college and high school students, but also the general public, job seekers, teachers and guidance providers, the diversity of agricultural education training, whether it is school, continuing or apprenticeship training ”, summarizes Catherine Marcellin, Deputy Regional Director Draaf.
Good intentions align with a series of conferences and workshops that work in a fun and educational way at the same time. The activities offered have been designed by island students in agricultural education in professional bac or BTS, or by professionals in the sector.
The principle is that of immersion. “In our opinion, it was important to promote discovery, in a very concrete and colorful way. In a way, visitors find themselves in the shoes of those who exercise the various living professions ”, continues the manager.
In the “village” program for these days, among others, an apiary, invasive plants, essential oils, biodiversity, or even drones, forestry equipment, figure prominently. The truck is also the place where you can have a first positive experience. “This vehicle was presented at the 2020 edition of the International Agricultural Show. Given the pandemic, his Tour de France, after a break of several months, did not resume until September 2021. We are very happy to have him at our disposal during these two weeks ”, welcomes the deputy director.
New technologies
The truck – 18 meters long and with a capacity of 25 places – allows you to get information while changing dimensions. “The system developed uses a machine driving simulator, virtual reality headsets, an interactive screen and tablets. In addition, we have planned a giant smartphone in order to position ourselves on social networks. Four animators also take turns to answer questions asked by visitors and present them with the various trades linked to the land, nature, plants, forests and woods ”, we explain.
Because, these remain subject to many prejudices. A reality that is felt on the school grounds. “We are seeing a clear resurgence of interest from young people in everything relating to environmental issues, the protection of nature and the forest. However, agriculture as such does not necessarily give rise to the same vocations, because there are difficulties in obtaining land. But not only “, observes Pascale Tesseyre, director of the AgriCorsica Campus in Sartène.
There is an old-fashioned image to break. “Agriculture is evolving and this goes through digital technology. The exercise of these professions partly induces the use of new technologies ”, she continues. The “hardship” is not what it used to be either. “Previously, for example, to dig a hole, we used the shovel and the pickaxe. These tools have now been replaced by the backhoe loader. Tractors are very sophisticated today too ”, reminds the director.
Between the tents of the “village”, it will be a question of innovations but also of increased qualifications, training in higher education and, beyond that, professions which push to invest more and more in the societal sphere. “These professions have the particularity of being in touch with the major contemporary transformations, in relation to food, the relation to animals and plants, the future of territories and climate change. “, We insist on the side of the Draaf.
One way to respond to the “challenges of the XXIe century ”, in the opinion of the partners.
