In an event that shook the local community, a tractor-trailer driver miraculously survived after his cargo vehicle crashed and subsequently caught fire.
This shocking accident took place at kilometer 100 of the route that goes from Palín to Puerto Quetzal.

Neighbors and merchants near the scene of the incident, upon realizing the seriousness of the situation, quickly came to help the pilot. Although he has not been identified yet, they managed to rescue him in time. He had minor injuries and showed signs of a nervous breakdown. Firefighter paramedics treated the victim at the scene and, after an initial examination, decided to transfer him to the nearest hospital for a more detailed evaluation.
On the other hand, the cargo vehicle was completely devoured by flames. Firefighters worked hard for hours to contain and put out the fire. The intensity of the fire caused the emission of dense columns of black smoke that darkened the atmosphere.
Until now, the exact causes of the accident remain unclear. It is unknown if another vehicle was involved, if there was any mechanical failure in the trailer or if the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
