In a massive sprint, Jasper Philipsen won ahead of Groenewegen and Kristoff on the Avenue des Champs Elysées. Jonas Vingegaard wins his first Tour de France!
Philipsen was the best by far
There will be no double for Wout van Aert. While the green jersey had raised his arms last year in front of Mark Cavendish on the Champs Elysées, he did not take part in the massive sprint, preferring to celebrate with Jonas Vingegaard. In his absence, it was Jasper Philipsen who won and in what way!

The Belgian won in the sprint, right under the nose of all the sprinters in the peloton. This is the second stage victory on this Tour de France for the rider from Alpecin-Fenix, already victorious in the city of Carcassonne a week ago. Philipsen, who had already won three stages in the Vuelta and was on the podium 9 times in a stage of the Grande Boucle, signed here the greatest victory of his career.
Some have tried… in vain
As usual, many riders tried to avoid the final sprint by breaking away during the eight laps around the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysées. Olivier Le Gac, Maximilian Schachmann, Owain Doull or even Antoine Duschesne took a few meters, a few seconds in front of the peloton, but never counted more than 20 seconds. The sprinters’ teams perfectly mastered the race and the few runaways in order to bring everyone home. On the Champs Elysées, sprinting is a religion.
Pogacar attacks on the fields!
As the peloton had just crossed the finish line to start the final lap, Gerain Thomas went on the attack with Filipo Ganna on the right side of the road. But on the other side of the road, Tadej Pogacar was also gone. Last last stand for the Slovenian, he who never stopped attacking during this Tour de France 2022. The white jersey wreaked havoc and showed one last time that this young man was full of panache.

Pogacar, van Aert and Vingegaard have fun at the start of the race
As is the rule every year, the first part of this 21st and final stage is run very quietly by the riders. However, some, in a moment of madness, took the opportunity to launch themselves at the forefront. And who else but Wout van Aert, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard to undertake such an idea from kilometer 0.

Obviously all this was placed under the sign of good humor. These three boys, who led the three weeks of racing like no one else, had the right to a final attack. And no one will blame them!
The coronation of Vingegaard
This last stage was also the occasion to officially state it: Jonas Vingegaard won the Tour de France 202. The Dane, second last year, achieved a perfect lap, punctuated by a stage victory at the top of the ‘Hautacam to win, at 25, his first Grand Tour.
Little glass of champagne for the Jumbo-Visma riders. Wout van Aert did not refuse the glass, he who will be aiming for the stage victory later. He won last year on the Champs-Elysées. #TDF2022 pic.twitter.com/2OpVSytMmm

Alongside a Jumbo Visma team that reigned over the race, Vingegaard notably took advantage of Tadej Pogacar’s failure at the Col du Granon to take a lead of more than two minutes that day and never let go of this jersey again. leader. A logical and deserved victory, Vingegaard was the strongest on this Tour de France 2022.
See you in the Basque Country in a year
This Tour de France 2022 is now over! After three weeks of races, 21 stages and more than 3000 km covered in four different countries, the Grande Boucle will not be back for another year. It will start on Saturday July 1, 2023. And after the big start from Copenhagen in Denmark, it is from Spain that the Tour peloton will start.
More precisely from Bilbao, where the start of this 110th edition will be given. Bilbao will become the tenth in 2023, for a loop stage on the first day, while the second stage will also be 100% traced in the Basque Country. Come on, we say see you next year.
