The evening show during the start number drawing before Tuesday evening’s World Cup slalom in Flachau belonged to Petra Vlhová. The Slovak received the biggest applause, which surprisingly did not belong to the Austrian national skiers. Vlhová addressed the fans in her native language from the stage.
The number of flags with the Slovak symbol has already testified who will get the biggest applause. There were around 350-400 spectators in the slalom finish areas. Mikaela Shiffrin was the first to draw a number from the circle of favorites, the American will be the first to hit the track. Vlhová will start with number six.
After the host of the show handed her the microphone, she addressed the fans in Slovakian: “I’m glad so many of you came. I hope you’ll be cheering me on for tomorrow and it’s good!”
In the Austrian resort, rain sprinkled the slopes in the afternoon, but it snowed in the evening. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing on Tuesday and the snow should stop shortly before the race.
