VIDEO: Tiquinho and Marçal sent off in Vítor Pereira’s victory over Luís Castro

In a warm Classic game, Botafogo lost to Flamengo by 1-0, on the 9th round of the Carioca championship. Vítor Pereira was not in charge of the team (it was Rui Quinta who was on the bench) and took the opportunity to spare some of the main figures, with a view to the second leg of the Recopa Sul-americana. Even so, Mengão was able to reach the advantage thanks to a goal by Matheus Gonçalves, in the sixth minute.

Luís Castro’s team saw VAR annul a goal to Carlos Alberto in the 90th minute after Carli was sent off on the bench. From then on, the Fogão players lost their minds: former FC Porto Tiquinho Soares was expelled for accumulating yellow cards and former Benfica Marçal saw a direct red card. The victory leaves Flamengo in the lead with 23 points, seven more than Botafogo, in third place, and four more than Fluminense, in second. In turn, Red Bull Bragantino thrashed Ituano by 5-1, in a match of the 11th round of Paulista. Alerrandro scored twice, Sorriso, Artur and Thiago Borbas scored the goals for Caixinha’s team while André Luiz scored the goal of honor for the visitors.
