“The Ministry of Health does not schedule hours: therefore, those people who have called them and asked for a code do not do so,” said Undersecretary Katherine Martorell
NATIONAL.- The Government and the PDI raised the alert of a new type of electronic scam that seeks to hack the WhatsApp application through the delivery of a code, with the particularity that the scammers are posing as officials of the Ministry of Health .
As they warned, in this modality a person pretends to be an official of the Minsal, requesting user data, such as their email, home address, telephone or routing, among others; to “schedule” the vaccination of the third booster dose confirmed last week by the Government.
Along with this, they ask the victim to deliver a code that they send by SMS, at which point they use to hack WhatsApp remotely.
“The Ministry of Health does not schedule hours: therefore, those people who have called them and asked for a code do not do so, because this is a scam and we are working together with the Investigative Police, to find the whereabouts of those who are committing this type of crime, ”said Undersecretary Katherine Martorell.
Meanwhile, the PDI made recommendations to consider for victims of this type of scam:
