The roof of a gym connected to the school in Saldus was lit tonight, LETA was informed by the State Fire and Rescue Service.
At 19.51, firefighters received a call to Lielo Street in Saldus, where the roof of a two-storey stone building burned with an open flame.
Arriving at the scene, it was found that the roof of the gym connected to the school was burning. Agency LETA is aware that this school is Saldus Primary School.
Chairman of Saldus City Council Maris Zusts (LZP), the damage to the building is serious, but nothing more can be said before the examination. The building is under construction, and construction work has taken place on its roof today.
Zusts pointed out that it was planned to create offices and a library in the building, but last week at the construction meeting it was determined that the deadline for the completion of construction works would have been this summer.
