VIDEO. The firefighters and female administrative staff of Tarn dance for Women’s Rights Day

All over the world, caregivers, police officers and college students have seized upon this dancing Zulu song inspired by gospel music. The firefighters and female administrative staff of Tarn have appropriated the #JerusalemaDanceChallenge for International Women’s Rights Day.

Since the coronavirus forced billions of people into self-isolation, a gospel-inspired dance song with Zulu lyrics has brought people together via social media. This track is Jerusalema, seen over 350 million times on YouTube in a year, co-written and recorded by South African DJ, Master KG with singer Nomcebo Zikode.

Planetary momentum

All over the world, Internet users have seized upon the song. Its catchy pace has prompted hundreds of people to post videos they dance in. College students in the courtyard, uniformed police officers, the Villeneuve Saint-Georges emergency service, nursing home staff, Madagascar airport staff and even a parody of the film le grand restaurant with Louis de Funès, many people danced to this piece of music that has become a challenge. There was also a ranking of the 10 best challengess.

On the occasion of the International Women’s Rights Day, the firefighters and administrative staff of Tarn took up the #JerusalemaDanceChallenge. The female staff of SDIS 81 carefully performed this choreography.

SDIS81 – Jerusalem Dance Challenge

This challenge and the International Women’s Day are an opportunity to talk about women and their journeys. In Lisle-sur-Tarn, the volunteer firefighters took part in this dance and took advantage of this moment to talk about their passion. “Going on a first aid emergency or a fire, I really like it, helping your neighbor, I like that”. Volunteer firefighter for 15 years, Warrant Officer Angelina Deville enjoys being in a mixed crew.

It’s good to have mixed crews, because a woman has certain qualities that are a little more developed than a man for certain interventions so I think it’s good that there are women in each crew.

The incorporation of women into firefighters has tripled in 20 years in the Lisle-sur-Tarn barracks. “Now, it’s easier to find your place within the corporation than it was fifteen years ago since there are more and more women, there are more of us “ says Warrant Officer Deville.
