In the heart of Montparnasse, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, the restaurant La Rotonde was hit by a fire this Saturday, January 18 in the early morning. Fire broke out in the establishment around 4:30 a.m. The managers of the brewery were alerted at around 5 am by an alarm.
According to another official, windows were broken and several fireplaces were lit inside La Rotonde. The damage on site is significant. The restaurant will remain closed for several weeks while being rehabilitated to be able to welcome customers again, warned its manager Gérard Tafanel. The restaurant manager told LCI that he had received threats on several occasions. The outside part of the restaurant had been damaged a week ago. “We had already burnt the oyster bar overnight,” explains Gérard Tafanel. For him, there is no doubt that it was a Macronian symbol that was targeted. “We have received many threats for a long time. Fortunately, the firefighters were not far away,” he said. “I am completely disillusioned. This is cowardice,” he repeats.
