Since the “white paper revolution” broke out, student movements have spread across campuses. Yesterday (11), demonstrations broke out again at the West China College of Clinical Medicine, Sichuan University.

Twitter user “Ms. Li is not your teacher” revealed that about 300 medical students held a rally on campus to protest that clinical medical school not only requires students to do high-demand jobs intensity, but does not even allow students to take leave; When I was working, I was faced with the dilemma of unequal pay for equal work. A master’s student’s salary was only RMB 1,000 (about NT$4,000), and interns had no salary, but the normal salary of a doctor performing the same work was over RMB 10,000.

It can be seen from the video that students marched on campus, marching from the campus library to West China Hospital. Along the way, the students chanted slogans: “Equal pay for equal work, no double standards! Go home voluntarily, don’t threaten.” Senior school officials then came to the scene to negotiate with the students and even claimed that “the like of this hasn’t happened in Huaxi for more than 100 years.”

The day’s parade concluded after the school’s senior management verbally agreed to the students’ request. Many netizens left messages of support for students: “Well done! Medical personnel (personnel) should have been respected and paid.” it’s normal, and gradually everyone gets used to it, and it’s a very simple appeal.

Although the demonstrations have become more and more common in China after the “white paper revolution”, “Ms. Li is not your teacher” later added that some netizens said that because they were afraid of police intervention, the students who marched that day did not dare to expand the demonstration outside the campus. It therefore remains to be seen whether demonstrations in China have become regular.
