Video: Tech analyse The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

What has been improved in the remaster?

Yesterday, the HD remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword came to Switch. The original came out in 2011, and although people have been putting the two versions side by side since the announcement early this year (as in this example) Digital Foundry has now put a real technical analysis online. It compares the technical aspects of the remaster and the original, such as frame rates, resolution and audio quality. You can watch the complete video below.

Some highlights from the video:

  • HD version runs 1080p docked, 720p in handheld mode
  • HD version almost always runs at 60 FPS, double the original
  • Improved textures with much more detail,
  • General quality of the images has been improved
  • Higher resolution for shadows
  • Charge much faster on the Switch
  • UI overhauled and improved
  • Full surround sound audio support op de Switch
