“The lighthouse of the church tower is popular not only among Cēsis residents, but also among the guests of the city, who, according to them, plan this as the culmination of their holiday stay in Cēsis,” says Andra Magone, the head of Cēsis Culture and Tourism Center. “This type of performance is a unique event not only in the Baltic, but also in the European context, so we are glad that it is appreciated by Cēsis residents and city guests! Already after the reconstruction, the church had become the most photographed object in social networks in Cēsis. The light show has only contributed to this trend, ”continues Magone.

“The time of creating this project has been significant for me personally and rich in experience in both creative and technical performance. I am honored with my work to continue the history of the heart of Cēsis and pass it on to the future, ”says the author of the project Uldis Skroders.

The performance can be seen on Friday and Saturday evenings, when it gets dark, every round hour until 23.00, when the church walls shine in a special mood story. The interaction of light games and music creates an impressive show. It is expected that the performance will change according to seasonality and various national and annual holidays.

In June, two years passed since the restoration of St. John’s Church in Cēsis began. Along with the reconstruction of the facade, the mighty windows of the church have also undergone transformations. Reconstruction of the windows has been carried out and new stained glass windows have been placed, which supplement the windows in the altar part and in the church area. Spotlights have also been installed to illuminate the church tower.
