Suddenly spring?
Anyone who sits in the sun at the weekend, perhaps a little sheltered from the wind, can already feel like in real spring – at least that’s how Thomas Endrulat, meteorologist for the German Weather Service, describes it. “Oh, there is a lot of sunshine at the weekend. It will not only be a very mild weekend in terms of temperatures, but also a very beautiful one with lots of sun.” For many, this change may not seem entirely normal, after all, a week ago you could still walk through snowy landscapes in many places. Until last week, the cold air from the east and a cloudless night sky made for freezing cold. Germany is now under the influence of high pressure, with very mild air reaching us with a southern to southwestern current. When asked whether such a sudden change was something extraordinary, Endrulat says: “Well, the weather is characterized by a very wide range and such changes, even these temperatures towards 20 degrees at the end of February, that’s remarkable, but it will come At the moment, in about four out of ten years, you have to expect it to be so warm in February.
