Westerlo, Genk and all related players and coaches requested the acquittal last Tuesday before the Disciplinary Committee for Professional Football (DCP) in Tubize. A constant in both pleas was the decompression of both groups of players after months of great pressure to avoid relegation or reach the Champions’ Play-offs.
Rik De Mil, former coach of Westerlo, spoke extensively himself. After his lawyer’s plea, he argued that the image created of him was incorrect. “Last season, 25,000 people asked me to lose the match against Union, no one wanted Antwerp to become champions. The Committee announced that it would make a decision as soon as possible. It is unclear when.
