The singer did not expect such success. On Friday, August 23, 2024, Louane, whose real name is Anne Peichert, published a video on her Instagram account: she sings an Italian cover of the title Chills with her partner, the musician Florian Rossi. It didn’t take much more for the video to set the web alight.
The staging is simple, the couple is sitting cross-legged on the floor, headphones on and microphones in hand. The setting is as romantic as can be and the landscape in the background lets us glimpse the beginning of a sunset over the green Italian countryside.
“A million views in 24 hours, clearly I’m crying“, reacted the singer from Pas-de-Calais on her Instagram story (a featured content that is automatically deleted after 24 hours). This Sunday, August 25, 2024, the publication had 1.2 million views, more than 53,400 likes and more than 2,000 comments.
Some were left by celebrities, making known their emotion while listening to the harmonious duo, like Barbara Pravi, Eddy de Pretto, Zaz or Juliette Armannet. The Franco-Italian actress Marina Foïs is also full of praise and even makes a comment in Italian “Honey, if you sing in Italian now… I’ll die.” (“But my little girl, if you sing in Italian now… I’ll die“).
The love song Chillswhich means “shivers” in French, is well known in Italy and beyond. Performed as a duet by Italian singers Mahmood and Blanco, it won the 72nd edition of the Sanremo Festival and was then selected to represent Italy at l’Eurovision 2022 in Turin.
Sung by the two young men, the lyrics evoke the desire and freedom to love and express this love without fear of one’s own mistakes or shortcomings. And the cover of this romantic ballad by Louane and P3GASE, the stage name of her companion, is just as delicate.
The singer had fun asking her 1.2 million Instagram followers if she should start a duet with her partner. The answers to the interactive question left no room for doubt: 99% answered yes. Clara Luciani also called for a lasting collaboration between the couple in the comments of the video.Tout an EP together please” she wrote.
