Sea of flames in the holiday area. On Saturday the fire brigade on the Spanish Costa Brava was in action with a large number and 6 aircraft to get a forest fire under control. The fire had spread near a popular tourist region in Llanca, Catalonia – south of the Spanish-French border. Around 400 hectares of forest are affected and more than 230 people had to seek shelter in temporary accommodation overnight. The exact cause of the fire is still unclear. However, investigators suspect that it is possible that the fire was started by a discarded cigarette.
