Ex-Bayern coach Louis van Gaal (72) makes headlines with a party appearance. A video on X (formerly Twitter) shows the Dutchman dancing in a nightclub in Eindhoven. He toasts the crowd with a glass of red wine – and dances a polonaise!

This is how the celebration beast celebrates a worthy comeback! Van Gaal gave himself this nickname during his time at FC Bayern (2009 to 2011) itself.

That’s behind van Gaal’s party appearance

The video was shot on Wednesday evening in a nightclub in Eindhoven. Van Gaal celebrated PSV’s early entry into the round of 16 Champions League after the 3-2 win against Sevilla FC.

But wait a minute – van Gaal is cheering for PSV? The cult coach is an advisor to Ajax Amsterdam? Correct, but that didn’t stop the 72-year-old from celebrating! And that despite the fact that Ajax is currently in a mega-crisis (worst start to the season in the club’s history and only 8th place in the league).

What’s also striking is that Van Gaal’s clothing is similar to his classic look on the sidelines – formal with a shirt and tie. So van Gaal stands in the middle of the crowd, swaying the red wine and taking part in the polonaise. The Dutchman is considered a lover of Riesling and Rioja. He now lives in Portugal on the Algarve coast. From there he advises the Ajax supervisory board on “technical football issues”.

The celebration brings back memories of the past: Van Gaal made a name for himself at FC Bayern as a “party animal”. His speech at the 2010 championship celebration at Munich’s Marienplatz was legendary: “I see a lot of women here. So there are a lot of moms here too. A big kiss from the master’s trainer!” Thunderous applause. Van Gaal also paid homage to the champions Bayern in the highest tones and delivered one memorable performance.
