Yesterday, Monday, social networking sites in Egypt became abuzz with a video clip in which a man in his fifties appeared telling a strange story about a family who threw a piece of their liver in the street and refused to receive it or even give it up to this person to raise him.
The video sparked a state of anger and sadness among social media users, while many offered the man to take the child for adoption, or provide him with monthly assistance, especially after his family refused to receive him.
Then the truth of the matter became clear to Al Arabiya.net after it met the fifty-year-old man. He said that he was from the city of Abu Qurqas in the Minya Governorate in southern Egypt, and that what he had done was an acting trick because he loved acting, stressing that this child was his son and he was aiming behind the video to raise awareness of the need to take care of children. And protecting them from kidnapping, taking refuge in the street, or falling into the arms of bad companions.
He said that he had worked in acting before and participated in the famous prank program “Give Me Your Mind,” and he wanted to present this video as purposeful content that seeks good and guides parents on ways to protect their children to avoid harming them.
The man, called Reda, said that he did not broadcast the video with the aim of gaining a trend and attracting viewers to achieve financial profits, especially since he is financially well off. He explained that he received many calls asking him to know the fate of the child and the reason why his family refused to receive him after identifying him.
The man had presented the video while crying, stressing that he had asked the child’s family to give him up and write a declaration so that he could adopt him, but they rejected this offer as well, and told him, “We don’t want him.. I want to throw him away. I want to raise him, raise him, but there is no paper.”
He said that he proposed providing a monthly salary to the family to take care of the child, but his family also refused, and it turned out in the end that the video was staged and that the child was his son, called Imad.
