The Oscars, handed over to Hollywood, are not for now. Usually celebrated at the beginning of February, the great mass of the cinema is scheduled this year on April 25, Covid obliges. But if the final list of nominees will be revealed a few weeks before the prom, indiscretions are not uncommon.
Cartoon Brew, the reference site for animated cinema and which has its ears everywhere, has just published the list of the 96 animated short films which constitute the first selection.
Among these, Purpleboy Portuguese director Alexandre Siqueira has already caused a sensation more than once, with his 140 festival selections and 25 awards. Grand Prix of the last Anima festival (which gave him access to the Oscar race), it was co-produced between Portugal, his country of origin; France and Belgium. This was done through the Belgian Cinema Center, the Tax Shelter and, alongside Luna Blue Film, the floraffoise production house Ambiances ASBL (which Thierry Zamparutti now manages from a Locko in Rhisnes).
