Journalists Songs of Jankalne in the program “Woman. Personally ”a well-known Latvian stylist and fashion artist Indra Salceviča reveals that at the beginning of her career she repeatedly encountered a contemptuous and openly negative attitude towards her appearance.
Indra admits that when she started studying fashion at the Academy of Arts, she was a “big girl” – she weighed about 120 kg at a height of 170 cm. “A teaching academy openly told me, ‘You can’t create fashion if you can’t wear it!'” The fashion artist remembers.
I was instructed that I had to “suck the crust of bread”, I had to lose weight because I had to consume the fashion I create. At the same time, I started to make up and create a style, and I was confronted with the fact that I was not hired because I didn’t look the way they thought the stylist should look, ”Indra recalls.
There is a strong stereotype – the stylist must look like a model and only then can he be trusted. “But when you’re a round tits and no matter what you’re pulling on your back, you don’t trust you,” says Indra.
“And then came the moment when I thought – everything should start to weaken. It really was because the public pressure was very high. I wanted to achieve something in this industry, so I started going to the nutritionist Bremen and dropped the weight to a stable size of 40, ”she recalls, although she emphasizes that even then she was still considered too“ big ”.
