The police arrested three men on Tuesday morning on suspicion of involvement in the production of crystal meth in Nederweert. Police also seized firearms and cash.

In July last year, a large production location of that synthetic drug was discovered in Nederweert. The detainees on Tuesday, three men aged 51, 35 and 28 from Weert, would have been involved.
The action lasted from the early morning until the afternoon and house searches were carried out at six locations in Weert. The police found two firearms, a significant amount of cash, expensive watches and jewelry, as well as items that may be related to drug trafficking. The origin of these items is under further investigation. One hundred employees of the police and the Public Prosecution Service (OM) are involved in the action.
Police also announced today that holes were found in the floor of the shed during the roll-up of the meth lab found at the end of July. The suspicion that then arose that chemicals would be discharged here, turns out to be correct. Research of the soil samples has now shown that.
When the meth lab was found at the end of July last year, a Polish suspect was arrested at the time. He was released after a few weeks, but he was still a suspect, the Public Prosecution Service reported earlier.

According to the police, more than 100 kilos of synthetic drugs could be made every day in the professionally set up production location. That equates to a trade value of 1 million euros per day. When sold, the street value would be a multiple of that. At the time, the police spoke of the largest meth lab found in the Netherlands.
