What do a billionaire, two engineers, a former military pilot, and two NASA astronauts have in common?
They are all part of two of the most exciting and dangerous missions in the universe.
SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule is preparing for its next mission, called Polaris Dawn.
All private missions for 5 days participated by 4 people, billionaire Jared Isaacman, his partner and pilot of this mission, former military pilot Scott Poteet, and two SpaceX engineers, Anna Menon and Sarah Gillis.
During the mission, the crew will perform 40 science experiments, attempt a dangerous spacewalk, and test several new spacesuits developed by SpaceX.
The four are expected to travel 870 miles from Earth, 620 miles further into space than the ISS.
The ISS is where two astronauts, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, are trapped.
A trip that was supposed to last 8 days turned into more than 80 days, after several problems, including the propulsion part of the Boeing Starliner plane stopped working.
NASA announced on Saturday (24/8) that SpaceX’s Crew 9 Dragon would rescue the two.
The NASA astronaut is expected to return to Earth in February 2025 at the earliest.
