Very soon, Spotify will release a new feature that will allow more creators to post video podcasts on the platform. It is important to mention that the user can continue to listen to only the audio if they wish.
The staging tries to capitalize on a visible trend. The lockdown skyrocketed podcast consumption around the world. It is estimated that by the end of 2021, podcast consumption in Mexico will grow and reached more than 22 million listeners; data that confirm the momentum that this type of product is having among users, not only in Mexico but worldwide.
The new feature of Spotify will allow you to include a video alongside the content, a resource that until now was limited to a small number of selected programs and creators. The expectation is that all users will be able to use it in the future.
This new function will be operating thanks to a tool provided by Anchor, a platform that allows creators to access their accounts and make edits such as inserting songs from platforms such as Spotify or Amazon Music.
Spotify mentions that the goal of this update is to diversify the content while improving the user experience.
In this way, Spotify will allow the video to be played in the background with the ability to “switch between active viewing with the video in the foreground or the background” depending on the user’s preference.
Likewise, the music platform is also open to creators to be able to monetize their content.
This is how you can add video to Spotify
The first thing you need to know to add a video on Spotify is that you need an account on both the platform and Anchor. You will have to answer the questions that an algorithm gives to determine your tastes and adjust your needs.
Followed by this, you will have to click on “New episode” and the option for “Fast loading” will be displayed. So you can finally export your video.
You will know that your video has already been published when your video podcast appears in the library.
You can monetize! It’s amazing, isn’t it? Podcasts will allow ads to be included through the Anchor Ads feature, which will also be part of Spotify. So content creators will have the option to share exclusive content with their subscribers, and even add advertising.
Do not despair. The Video Podcasts will land on the platform progressively, without a specific release date. At first it will only be available in the United States but it promises to expand globally.
