What barriers do people with disabilities experience in everyday life? Answers are given by five people with different disabilities. They talk about what shapes their lives positively and negatively and where they would like to have a lot more opportunities to participate. In keeping with the European Day of Action for Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities, which takes place on May 5th every year, the video has been released.
“Your vote for inclusion – take part!” is this year’s motto of the day of action supported by Aktion Mensch. “The film is a call to all people to uncover grievances, make barriers to participation visible and support people with disabilities to stand up for their rights – for more togetherness instead of side-by-side”, says the organizational team to which the circle and the The city of Herford, the city of Löhne, advisory boards for people with disabilities, the competence center for self-determined living OWL and representatives of integration assistance count. The Wittekindshof in the Herford district is also participating.
In addition to the video project, there is also a poster campaign in public spaces, for example in buses, which is intended to raise awareness of barriers in everyday life.
