The gates of the Dolní oblasti Vítkovice area opened to visitors of the Ostrava Majáles 2024 at 11:30 a.m. About two hundred visitors tried to get into the area from the first minutes. At the same time, a student procession with artists riding on specially decorated cars with trailers arrived in front of the entrance, leaving from Májka on Masaryk Square.
The first concert of the festival was performed by the Czech rapper KOJO on the VELO stage. Subsequently, he was followed up on the main Hitrádio Orion stage by the Czech singer Jaroslav Uhlíř, who sang, for example, the Czech classic When a horse falls in love.

At first glance, the festival has a large number of food and drink stalls as well as seating areas. During the early afternoon, larger queues have not yet formed. “So far we are extremely satisfied with the program and the stands, the only thing we are a little worried about are the cups in the evening,” said visitor Natálie.
Each of the three stages offers visitors a different musical style. Hitrádio Orion stage is mainly pop and today Ben Cristovao, Ewa Farna and Mirai will also perform here. The VELO stage primarily presents rap performers such as the Slovak hot girl SIMU, the hip-hop group Kontrafakt or the winner of the Anděl 2023 award for the best joint project of Calin & Viktor Sheen.
The last stage by Rock Radio already reveals from the name that the performers are mainly from the rock music branch. Among the performers are the Czech band Wohnout, Vypsaná Fixa and Slovak band Horkýže Slíže.
TO THE TOPIC
How about the cups, what are the prices
Even though it is a one-day event, the selection at the refreshment stands is quite wide. Visitors can enjoy festival classics such as a kebab in a tortilla (CZK 229, at another stand for CZK 199), langoustine (CZK 149), sausage (CZK 149) or fries (small for 99 CZK, large for 149 CZK). The Prague scenario of a kebab for 300 CZK is therefore not in danger in Ostrava. For those with a sweet tooth, there are also various types of trdelník (120 CZK/piece) and pancakes (basic price without extra ingredients: 119 CZK/piece).
Drinks
BAR tents and Radegast tents occupy the largest number of drink stands. In addition, visitors will also find a few stands of individual brands such as Red Bull, Amundsen or Jägermeister in the area.
At Radegast stands, you can choose from draft Birel Pomelo (CZK 65 for 0.5l), Frisco Cider (CZK 66 for 0.5) and Radegast 10 (CZK 66 for 0.5l).
At the stands with the inscription BAR, non-alcoholic drinks are available, for example, bottled water (49 CZK for 0.5l), draft raspberry (54 CZK for 0.3l) and Coca Cola (54 CZK for 0.3l). As for alcohol, people can indulge in white wine by the glass (CZK 85 for 0.2L) or a refreshing Gin & Tonic drink (CZK 149 for 0.2L).
According to those interviewed behind the bar at one BAR stand, there should be enough water stocked for all visitors. The organizers on the website, as well as the artists themselves, who are currently performing, urge all visitors to adhere to a drinking regime consisting of non-alcoholic beverages. Today, the temperatures climbed up to 24 °C, but it can feel a bit more in the crowd in direct sunlight. Therefore, there is also one refreshing shower available in the area.
Drinks are expected to be poured into returnable cups, for which there is a deposit of CZK 70. According to the information provided on the festival website, the night purchase of cups at the main purchase stand at the exit of the area should be strengthened.
