The OnePlus 8 Pro phone’s camera is able to ‘see’ through various thin materials, such as plastic, creating an effect similar to X-rays.
To do this, simply start the camera application and activate the color filter called ‘Photochrome’ that allows capturing not only visible light to the human eye but also the infrared spectrum.
Several owners of this model of cell phone shared their own experiments on the Internet with this technology, applied to the controls of the Oculus Quest virtual reality headset, the Apple TV digital multimedia receiver, or the remote control of a television.
According to the Android Police portal, the OnePlus 8 Pro’s camera is not capable of ‘spying’ through clothing.
However, the editors of the AndroidPIT site claim the opposite and published an image showing a handwritten sign placed under a garment that seems to be readable thanks to the infrared filter.
