After eight years, an ox race is taking place again in Münsing. To mark the occasion, the organizers made a video – in the style of the BR cult series “Irgenwie und weder.”
Münsing – The man in traditional costume is sitting on a turquoise moped and is in a hurry. He races along a country road near Münsing as fast as his old vehicle can take him. Those familiar with the Bavarian cult series “Irgendwie und weder” will probably rub their eyes at this scene: Is that actor Sir Quickly – played by Ottfried Fischer at the time – driving around the Münsingen area?
It is a short video sequence. The similarity mentioned is not a coincidence: After an eight-year break, the Münsingen Ox Race will take place again on September 1st, as reported. For this occasion, the organizers have made a video in the style of the cult series.
Ox race in Münsing: Video with 50 amateur actors and professional filmmakers
The idea came from the board of the “D’Münsinger Ochserer” club. Anton Leinbach is a member of it. “We thought about what kind of video we could make about the ox race,” says the board member. In the end, we chose “Irgendwie und weder” as the model.

They received support from the Münsingen filmmaker Stefan Pfeil. Filming took place on a Saturday with around 50 amateur actors. “Club members, friends, entire families – everyone thought the idea was great and got involved straight away.” Together they wanted to recreate well-known scenes from the series. “That wasn’t easy, there was a lot of spontaneity involved,” Leinbach admits.
“Somehow and anyway” in Münsing: Video for ox race reminds of cult series
The result is a video that lasts almost two minutes. The clip begins with an aerial shot of Münsing. In the middle of the picture, in large red letters, is written “Irgendwie und Ochsenrennen – Ignaz roast ned”. The font is the same as the BR series by director Franz Xaver Bogner. Just like the intro that blares in the background.

This is followed by a car race on a country road – the next successful homage to the series. A sleek red sports car overtakes a green Unimog. Following behind it are a beige Fiat 500 and a grey Mercedes 190.
“Sepp, drive over. Let’s go, they’re all waiting,” the Fiat driver is urged on by his two male passengers from the back seat. The race goes right through the town, past the packed beer garden. One of the guests then jumps up, sits on his moped – and speeds after them. “I’m not going to watch this nonsense for much longer,” calls an angry waitress after the speeders.
Club members, friends, entire families – everyone liked the idea and joined in straight away.
Their destination: a meadow where rehearsals for the ox race are taking place. To get them in the mood, one of the animals is given brass music with XXL headphones. Then it starts. Three oxen, including oxen on their backs, start running. The final sequence shows children in traditional costumes. “Come on over, we’re looking forward to seeing you,” says a boy happily into the camera. His cheering fellow competitors underline his words.

“Very true to the original. A great clip for the best series,” praised one Facebook user under the post. “As if Franz Xaver had directed it… really well done…!!,” commented another. Anton Leinbach is also extremely happy with the result. “I watch the video three times a day,” he says jokingly. kof
