A surge of violence. In Belgium, the attack on a teenage couple in an alley near a school in Herck-la-Ville has caused scandal, reports the VRTMonday, September 23. A video circulating on social media shows a 15-year-old boy being brutally punched in the face and then kicked while he is on the ground. The victim was hospitalized for surgery. He reportedly lost two teeth and his jaw is broken. His 14-year-old girlfriend reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder.
The suspect was arrested and must appear before a youth judge. He is already known to the courts for similar acts. He was suspended from school as a precaution, as were two other students who were present at the scene at the time of the events but who did not intervene.

This attack is said to be linked to extra work to be done for the school. It is also said to be premeditated: “A WhatsApp group was created to announce the fight. When my daughter found out, she panicked and went to warn the secretary, but they did nothing. Then, when they wanted to take the bus home, they were attacked by a group,” said the girl’s father, relayed by the Belgian media 7sur7He accuses the establishment of negligence.

The latter condemns the facts, but rejects its share of responsibility, because the facts did not take place on its premises. “There was indeed a trigger at school throughout the day. It was the supervisors and members of the secretariat who followed up and dealt with this situation (…) After school, things then went wrong,” the Sint-Martinus school said in a press release. “Incidents can always happen, but we have never experienced this before. There is no doubt that a sanction will follow,” it added.
