VIDEO: Naomi Osaka bursts into tears at press conference

Naomi Osaka burst into tears during the Cincinnati tournament launch press conference after journalists addressed her Rolland Garros’s withdrawal, last May, after having refused to participate in press conferences.

The French tournament case left its aftereffects. We recall that, at the time, the Japanese tennis player explained that she was not going to speak at press conferences to draw attention to her mental health problems, but ended up withdrawing from the tournament, on the same day, due to strong pressure.

This was the first time Naomi Osaka has faced journalists since that episode in May. The tennis player still answered the first questions, already visibly moved, explaining that, after Roland Garros, she had difficulties in leaving home and facing people.

Faced with the insistence of journalists, the tennis player was unable to hide her tears. Naomi even pulled her hat forward, trying to hide her face, at a time when tears were already running down her face. It was at this point that the press officer decided to interrupt the press conference.
