John Davis is standing on the helicopter landing pad of the Nord-Klinikum, behind him you can see the Imperial Castle and wintry Nuremberg. From up there he belts out “Hallelujah”, the famous song by Leonard Cohen. Later the musician, known as one of the “true voices” of the band Milli Vanilli, sings “Silent Night”.
For cleaning lady and senior physician
The songs, Davis says, are for the people who work in the building on whose roof it stands. And for all other employees of the Nuremberg Clinic, from cleaning lady to senior doctor. “The songs are for everyone,” says Davis, “because they work so hard.”
Nuremberg Hospital: Tense situation, but no triage
Together with three other musicians, Davis recorded a one-hour concert that can now be seen on YouTube. The blues singer Klaus Brandl in the Laufer Klinikum, tenor Alexander Herzog in the Altdorf hospital and the Fürth soul tube Felicia Peters also perform. They all say thank you to those “who do their best every day under the most difficult conditions to keep people alive,” says Herzog.
“Great in all areas”
“Special times require special ideas,” says Peter Schuh. He is the board member for personnel and patient care at the hospital. “Our colleagues are doing great things these days. The loads are high – in all areas of our company.” The board of directors of the hospital is very proud of the employees, says Schuh.
With the musical Christmas greeting, the board wants to give its employees “a little joy, allow a few contemplative moments and say thank you for their commitment in this challenging year”, says board member Prof. Dr. Achim Jockwig.
