The MTV Video Music Awards will not be virtual this year. The organizers are planning a show in New York City in September.

The MTV Video Music Awards returns as a live event. The broadcaster gave that among other things on twitter known. The event will take place on September 12th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. As reported by “Variety”, no artists have been announced for the show yet. However, according to an announcement, the ceremony, which will air in over 175 countries, will “feature performances by some of the greatest stars in music and celebrate the return of live entertainment”.
MTV wants to remember the terrorist attacks on the New York World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, which is the 20th anniversary, with the event and in the week before with individual actions. According to the announcement, the deceased, their families, the injured and the first responders will be honored.
The annual awards ceremony was originally supposed to take place on August 30th at the Barclays Center last year. Instead, the show took place virtually and as open air, with live performances at various locations within the Big Apple and in some cases completely without an audience. In the nominations, Ariana Grande (27) and Lady Gaga (35) were at the forefront. In the end, the two singers were able to win four awards each, just like BTS, which are also among the big winners.
